FAQs
Is Hypnosis the same as being asleep?
No, hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of deep relaxation. You are fully awake and aware of your surroundings the whole time. You will hear the hypnotherapists voice, and noises around you. You can open your eyes and at any point during the session, saying that, you will be so beautifully relaxed that you will probably just enjoy keeping them closed. Hypnosis works in the same state as that beautiful time just before you drop off to sleep, or when you first up in the morning. It occurs naturally many times a day, and self hypnosis can be taught through concentration and relaxion techniques.
Am I aware of what is happening?
Yes absolutely, you are awake and aware of what is going on around you. A common misconception is that a therapist may make you start clucking like a chicken, or get you to do something out of character. This is not the case at all. You are completely in control the whole time, you are the driver and the hypnotherapist just helps you steer towards your goals. You won’t do anything that goes against your values and beliefs (and a Proffessional Hypnotherapist would never try to suggest otherwise).
Will Hypnotherapy work with Children?
Most definatley. Children have fantastic imaginations which are perfect for helping them make changes using Hypnotherapy. This can help with things like nail biting, bed wetting, confidence building, overcoming phobias etc.
